Bagalkot Unveils India's Second National Simulation Centre for Nursing Training

Bagalkot has taken a major step in strengthening India’s nursing education with the launch of the country’s second National Reference Simulation Centre and the first Competency Certification Centre at BVV Sangha’s Sajjalashree Institute of Nursing Sciences. The facility was developed with technical support from the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and global health organization Jhpiego, affiliated with Johns Hopkins University.

Spread across 22,000 sq ft and built at a cost of Rs 16 crore, the center is equipped with high-fidelity mannequins, multiple advanced simulation suites covering OBG, medical-surgical, nursing foundations, critical care, NICU, PICU, emergency and trauma care, and operating theatre and specialized spaces for virtual reality, counselling, and decision-making. It also includes digital assessment labs, skill stations, and realistic clinical learning environments. High-quality accommodation has been provided for trainees to ensure a safe and comfortable learning experience.

Veeranna C. Charantimath, Chairman of BVV Sangha, said the new center will act as a national hub for competency certification, enabling nursing educators and professionals to gain hands-on, evidence-based training aligned with global healthcare standards. Representatives from Jhpiego and Laerdal Medical India, leaders in simulation technology, joined in setting up the project.

INC president Dr. T. Dileep Kumar, who inaugurated the center, said the development positions Bagalkot as an emerging center of excellence in nursing skill development, improving the readiness of India’s healthcare workforce. Dr. Bhagavan B.C., Vice-Chancellor of RGUHS, added that the initiative is a significant contribution to strengthening nursing education and ultimately enhancing patient care.
