Max Healthcare has announced a major expansion in West India with plans to invest Rs 1,020 crore in a 450 bed greenfield super-specialty hospital in Pune. The move marks the company’s entry into the Pune healthcare market and reinforces its focus on Maharashtra.

The upcoming Pune hospital will be Max Healthcare’s fourth facility in Maharashtra, after Nanavati Max Hospital in Mumbai and Alexis Hospital in Nagpur. The company has also signed an agreement to develop a 500 bed greenfield hospital in Thane, making Pune its second greenfield project in the western region.

According to a regulatory filing, the Pune facility is expected to be commissioned within the next three years, with the full 450-bed capacity added in phases over four years. The hospital will be built on a 1.68 acre freehold land parcel owned by Yerawada Properties. Max Healthcare will acquire 100 percent equity in the real estate firm as part of the project.

The total investment of Rs 1,020 crore includes land acquisition, construction, medical equipment, and statutory costs such as stamp duty and registration charges. The company said the project will be funded through a mix of internal accruals and term loans.
