CM Chandrababu Naidu Unveils Universal Health Coverage Plan for Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced plans to roll out a Universal Health Coverage Scheme, offering Rs 2.5 lakh health insurance to every resident of the state. The initiative aims to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for all citizens.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Shankara Eye Hospital building in Pedakakani, Guntur district, Naidu said the state government is also working to extend medical assistance up to Rs 25 lakh for economically weaker families.
He emphasized that under the upcoming Sanjeevani Project, Andhra Pradesh will focus on providing quality healthcare to patients across both urban and rural areas. The initiative will also include the digitization of medical records for over six crore residents, ensuring smoother healthcare delivery.
Naidu shared that the Bill Gates Foundation is supporting a pilot project for technology and knowledge transfer in the state’s healthcare sector. He said these efforts reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the public health system with modern technology and inclusive coverage.

The newly inaugurated Shankara Eye Hospital, guided by Sri Sri Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, features a Super Specialty Eye Care Centre. The hospital has performed over four lakh surgeries and nine lakh eye examinations, serving nearly 3,000 patients daily.
