Ahmedabad based Shalby Hospitals is set for rapid growth, announcing plans to open new multi-specialty hospitals in Lucknow, Kolkata, Nagpur, and Pune over the next two to five years. The hospital chain will also launch a Greenfield project at Mumbai’s Asha Parekh Hospital, boosting its total bed capacity from 2,300 to around 2,500.
Shanay Shah, president of Shalby Hospitals, said, the expansion will focus on Tier-1 cities, with each new hospital housing 200-250 beds to maintain operational efficiency and high patient care standards. The group will use a mix of owned and asset-light models, with investments ranging from Rs 1.5 to Rs 3 crore per bed, depending on the city.
Known globally for its expertise in orthopedics, performing up to 60,000 joint replacements annually, Shalby is expanding its services to include cardiology, oncology, neurology, nephrology, critical care, and organ transplants. Orthopedics now accounts for 35% of revenue, with other specialties making up the rest.
The hospital chain invests heavily in advanced technology, including robotic surgery systems and high-end imaging tools. Shalby also owns a US-based knee and hip implant manufacturer, helping ensure quality and affordability.
