  • Motorica launches digital prosthetic arm program using 3D tech in India
  • First successful fittings done using just smartphone photos
  • Aims to speed up access to custom, high quality prosthetics across the country

Motorica, a global MedTech innovator, has introduced its Digital Prosthetics Program in India, aiming to make advanced, custom made prosthetic arms more accessible and faster to deliver. The company uses a high-tech process that combines 3D scanning, digital modeling, and 3D printing to create precision prosthetic limbs with reduced wait times.

The program eliminates the need for traditional plaster molds. Instead, clinics in India take photos of a user's limb using photogrammetry, a technique that turns regular smartphone images into 3D models. These images are sent to Motorica’s engineering team, which designs the limb digitally. The prosthetic is then printed and assembled at their facility in Moscow and delivered quickly, ensuring top quality and accuracy.

Motorica has already completed its first successful fittings in India using this method. The process avoids costly scanning equipment, making the service more inclusive, especially in remote and underserved areas.

Kavinder Beniwal, COO of Motorica India, said the goal is to support prosthetists, not replace them. “By simplifying routine tasks through digital tools, we help specialists focus on more complex needs. Patients benefit with quicker, high-quality prosthetics regardless of location”.

The company plans to expand the service across India in collaboration with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and NGOs, continuing its mission of inclusive healthcare through technology.
