Innovative Opportunities Flourish in Indian Systems of Medicine: AYUSH Secretary

AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha highlighted the significant scope for innovation within Indian systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Sowa-Rigpa. Speaking at the PRANA (Protecting Rights and Novelties in ASUS) national conference organized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Kotecha underscored the potential for patents, commercialization, and technology transfer of innovations emerging from the event.

The conference showcased numerous innovations deemed suitable for startups, fostering collaboration between educational institutions nationwide to promote Indian systems of medicine. Kotecha emphasized the opportune moment for such discussions, asserting that it promotes the advancement of Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Sowa-Rigpa.

Vaidya Jayant Deopujari, Chairperson of NCISM, echoed Kotecha's sentiments, emphasizing the necessity to harness knowledge for the benefit of institutions. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, established under the NCISM Act, 2020, serves as the statutory body overseeing these endeavors.

The conference, held in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education and the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, aimed to foster innovation and collaboration within the Indian systems of medicine landscape. With a focus on leveraging emerging opportunities, the event served as a platform to propel advancements and further enhance the scope for innovation within Indian systems of medicine.
