- The course offers hands-on training in AI models for diagnostics, imaging, risk scoring, and public health analytics, with live weekend sessions and capstone projects mentored by IIT faculty.
- The initiative supports workforce upskilling and innovation in healthcare, aligning with India’s growing digital health market projected to exceed $37 billion by 2030.
In a strategic move to empower healthcare professionals and technologists with artificial intelligence (AI) expertise, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has announced the launch of its new online 'Executive Programme for AI in Healthcare'. Offered under the institute’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP), the 24-week course is aimed at equipping clinicians, engineers, data professionals, and med-tech entrepreneurs with cutting-edge AI skills tailored for the healthcare sector.
This initiative comes as AI becomes central to modern medicine, transforming how healthcare is delivered and managed. “At IIT Delhi’s CEP, our mission is to build next-gen capabilities that respond to India’s and the world’s evolving healthcare needs. AI is no longer optional -- it’s central to modern medicine. This new programme empowers professionals to lead that transformation”, said Professor Manav Bhatnagar, Head of CEP at IIT Delhi.
The comprehensive programme is structured to offer a robust academic and hands-on learning experience. Participants will work with real clinical datasets, explore hospital data systems, and build AI models to enhance diagnosis, risk scoring, imaging, and predictive analytics. Starting with the fundamentals of AI and machine learning, the course advances to complex applications such as natural language processing on Electronic Health Records (EHRs), deep learning for medical imaging, IoT-based patient monitoring, healthcare automation, and public health analytics.
Designed with working professionals in mind, the live, interactive classes will be held on weekends. The curriculum also includes capstone projects mentored by IIT Delhi faculty, offering participants a chance to develop real-world AI-powered dashboards and decision-support tools.

To bridge theory with practice, the programme features dedicated sessions with industry leaders, including hospital CIOs, med-tech founders, and AI experts, offering insights into innovation trends and deployment strategies.
The programme launch aligns with global healthcare trends. The World Economic Forum estimates AI could contribute over $150 billion annually to the healthcare sector through efficiency and improved outcomes. Closer to home, a joint report by NITI Aayog and EY projects India’s digital healthcare market to surpass $37 billion by 2030, powered by AI diagnostics and remote care.
To ensure seamless delivery, IIT Delhi has partnered with TeamLease EdTech as its technology and student success partner. “This programme will prepare professionals to bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and data intelligence, creating solutions that impact lives”, said Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO of TeamLease EdTech.
