Dr Sachin Mittal

Laparoscopic, Laser & Robotic Surgeon

In contemporary Indian surgery, laparoscopic methods are not only an innovation, but they’re also becoming the norm in a big way. Induced by advances in medical technology, greater accessibility of expert surgeons, and patient-focused movement toward quicker recovery, laparoscopic and Robotic surgery is now redefining surgical experiences in urban and semiurban healthcare systems. From hernias and gallstones to bariatric procedures and colorectal disease, once deemed complicated and time-consuming, are now accomplished with small incisions, minimal pain, and a rapid return to everyday living.

One of the master surgeons spearheading this subtle but revolutionary change is Dr Sachin Mittal, a name that embodies robotic accuracy and empathetic care. With over 20 years of experience, he is a torchbearer of cuttingedge laparoscopic, laser, bariatric, and robotic surgeries at Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad. What makes him different is not only his technical dexterity but also his strong sense of roots. “From a tiny village of Faridabad. No mentors, no road map, just an obsession with serving and climbing up. That’s what propelled me into medicine”, he remembers. It is not a tale merely of medical achievement, but of grit, social conscience, and vision.

Rooted in Knowledge from Rural Beginnings to Global Fellowships

He is a DNB from the National Board of Examinations, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), member of the International College of Laparoscopic Surgeons (MCLS) and the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS). His global memberships involve active membership in the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) for which he is an abstract reviewer.

His scope of surgery is diverse ranging from laparoscopic gallbladder and bile duct surgery to complex hernia repair, acid reflux surgery, bariatric surgery such as sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass, and laser surgery for piles, fistula, fissure, pilonidal sinus, and varicose veins. He is also well-versed in emergency laparoscopic procedures for perforations and trauma and thyroid and breast surgeries.
A Culture of Teamwork, Technology & Precision

For Dr Sachin Mittal, surgical success is not a result of an individual hand it is a product of an expertly coordinated team effort. “It’s not just the surgeon. Your OT technicians, anesthetists, nursing team they’re all key players”, he points out. Particularly in times of high-stress emergency laparoscopic surgeries like intestinal perforations or abdominal trauma in the dead of night team coordination is everything.

With two of his essential doctors trained to keep pace with his surgical rhythm and regular skill acquisition for the team, he makes sure that his operating room operates as a well-practiced orchestra. “With time, this familiarity creates surgical symphonies”, he explains. Technology has also revolutionized the world of surgery dramatically.

From 4K high-definition laparoscopic cameras to robotic surgical arms and laser energy devices, he now has at his disposal instruments that enable greater precision, less bleeding, and much less trauma to patients. “Not all cases are appropriate for minimal access. But when it is, the patient walks and talks just hours after surgery. That’s the beauty”, he reflects. His clinical method relies on formal training, meticulous patient selection, and continuous evolution.

Success isn’t just in a perfect stitch, it’s in the smile of a patient who walks home, pain-free and hopeful, and that’s what keeps me going

Away from the operating table, Dr Sachin Mittal is also an avid member of the international laparoscopic fraternity. He has written several national and international research articles and is a reviewer for the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Regularly invited as a faculty speaker, live demonstrator, and panel chair for large surgical meetings, he remains close to cutting-edge thinking. But what separates him from others is his unshakeable attachment to his heritage. On every Sunday for the last six years, he has been providing free consultations in a self-owned OPD in his home village in Faridabad. “I’ve watched cancers going undiagnosed in villages because people trust quacks or don’t know of modern medicine. I want to be that bridge between knowledge and reach”, he says. For him, strengthening rural health systems is not optional it is essential to transforming India’s overall healthcare landscape.

Future Vision

The vision of Dr Sachin Mittal is based on egalitarian care. His dream is to provide robotic and laparoscopic surgery to the masses at affordable prices. He is working diligently to incorporate low-cost models, associating with NGOs, and searching for training programs that can enable the advanced surgical methods to extend to the rural areas. He is also convinced that tomorrow’s surgery has no right to be for the elite alone it has to penetrate villages and reach every person in need of cure.
