Siemens Healthineers has recently enhanced its 'Make in India' initiative by launching local manufacturing of the Multix Impact E digital radiography X-ray system. This move represents a significant step in the company’s dedication to improving patient care access across India.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Tuberculosis (TB), and road injuries are among the leading causes of death in India, according to 2022 data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). X-rays are critical for diagnosing bone fractures, detecting chest anomalies, and identifying infectious diseases like TB. The Multix Impact E will play a crucial role in addressing these health challenges.

Hariharan Subramanian, Managing Director of Siemens Healthcare India, emphasized the importance of this development: “Our strong focus on local manufacturing and commitment to patient safety underscores our purpose to pioneer healthcare solutions for everyone, everywhere, sustainably”. The Multix Impact E, a floor-mounted system, is designed for ease of use and delivers high-quality imaging with reduced radiation doses, prioritizing patient safety.

Tisha Boatman, Senior Vice President of Global Access to Care at Siemens Healthineers, highlighted the impact of the new facility: “By manufacturing the Multix Impact E locally, we are expanding access to essential healthcare in low-resource settings across India, thereby building capacities and improving overall healthcare availability”.

The Multix Impact E will be produced at Siemens Healthineers’Bengaluru facility, which has extensive experience in local manufacturing of mobile C-arms, CT, and MRI systems. This local production will not only boost the availability of digital X-ray technology in secondary care but also align with India’s broader goals of self-reliance and improved healthcare infrastructure.
