HIM Samwaad 2025 Concludes with Call for Community Engagement in Health and Water Security

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein emphasized the importance of blending traditional knowledge systems with modern healthcare services to build a resilient and inclusive future for Himalayan communities. Speaking at the valedictory session of the three-day HIM Samwaad 2025, Mein advocated for the preservation and institutionalisation of indigenous medicinal practices.

Addressing the unique challenges faced by Himalayan states such as geographical remoteness, ecological vulnerability, and uneven access to public services Mein highlighted the critical role of community engagement in finding effective solutions. He also stressed the need to invest in climate-resilient infrastructure and promote women and youth leadership in water and health governance.

The deputy CM underlined significant progress in Arunachal’s health and water sectors, referencing key initiatives like the Chief Minister’s Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) and the ‘Medicine from the Sky’ drone-enabled healthcare delivery programme. He also celebrated the state’s milestone of achieving 100% household tap water coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Reaffirming the government’s vision of “community-led, technology-driven, and culturally grounded development”, Mein said, “Our communities are not just beneficiaries but equal partners in shaping a healthier and more resilient Himalayan future”.

HIM Samwaad 2025, themed ‘Strengthening Community Engagement for Sustainable Health and Water Solutions’, was organised by Sewa International in collaboration with RIWATCH, the state government, and environmental organisations. The event brought together policymakers, experts, and grassroots leaders to deliberate on pressing issues related to health, water access, and climate resilience across the Himalayan region.
