Dhakaram Sapkota,FounderEver since a young boy, Dhakaram was fond of exercising and karate. During his karate training finesse, one of his friends suggested that yoga would be a great technique for improving his ability to focus. In no time, young Dhakaram’s passion shifted to yoga. In 1988, he joined yoga classes conducted by Shri Suraj Karan Jindal Sahib aka ‘Guruji’. “We connected at a level that went beyond a student-teacher relationship,” exclaims Dhakaram.

He began traveling to places like Pondicherry and Kanpur with Guruji attending various international yoga conferences and seminars. Soon, he was participating in yoga contests and won many gold medals for the same. “I never received anything like that in karate, but yoga did bring me a lot of recognition and glory,” he quips.

Eventually, his interest towards yoga grew multi-folds and in 1994 he started teaching yoga to a small group of students. This was just the beginning of his teaching days. Initially, when he started training students, he never charged them any fees, as he always cared about giving the best experience to his students and all he expected in
return was the smile on their face, every time they left the class. Gradually attaining the popularity, he was featured in many local and international movies. In fact, he was known as the levitating yogi in Jackie Chan’s ‘KungFu Yoga’ movie.

The Start of YogaPeace
Dedicating his life to yoga,Dhakaram with his years of training and hard-work became a senior teacher at Rajasthan Swasthya Yoga Parishad. Here, he used to give advanced yoga training sessions to students. Eventually, he continued for a few years, until in 1998, a friend of his, Mr. Sharat Dhakad, came up with the idea of starting a yoga studio. This is where he came up with the name, ‘YogaPeace’. “I said, Okay brother, let’s do it!” asserts Dhakaram.

Everything fall into place in year 2006, another dear friend of his, Mr. Rahul Mangal, offered them a space on the ground floor of his apartment for free. Thus began the journey of YogaPeace. Therefore, what started as a regular yoga training institute, in no time became a sensation in and around Jaipur region. Today, they are connected
with more than 60,000 to 75,000 people and are providing a gamut of workshops and coaching classes across the world. Their program includes Regular Yoga, Advance Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Partner Yoga, Meditation, Therapy Yoga, Slimming Program, Fitness Yoga, Corporate Yoga and Yoga Certification Courses (L1, L2 & L3) amongst others. “Everyone works to seek happiness in life. Presently, a lot of people in the corporate space are dealing with health issues, and Dhakaram feels that when people are under stress or pressure, he will not be able to perform to their full potential, and this will lead to health issues and unnecessary complications. YogaPeace, understanding the pain-points here offers customized therapeutic yoga sessions for clients’ various problems. “Our centre is known for therapeutic sessions. In fact, there are various ailments in which doctors suggest that medication is the only resort. But, we, on the other hand, cure these diseases (like asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, thyroid, arthritis and others) without the use of medicines. Thus, practicing yoga changes everything” proudly states Dhakaram.
