Dr Vijayant Govinda Gupta,Urologist In recent years, male reproductive and sexual health issues have become a silent crisis in India. While infertility is now widely acknowledged, with large fertility chains and corporate-backed IVF clinics expanding rapidly, the equally urgent issue of erectile dysfunction remains in the shadows. Many men suffering from it either avoid seeking help due to stigma or fall prey to unqualified practitioners who promise miracle cures but deliver none.

This disconnect in public awareness and medical focus is troubling, especially as changing lifestyles, stress, sedentary habits, and delayed parenthood continue to worsen male fertility and performance issues across age groups. What’s needed now is not just clinical expertise, but also openness, patient education, and credible treatment pathways that bring dignity and science back into the conversation.

Dr Vijayant Govinda Gupta, Urologist and Andrologist, completed his MBBS from University College of Medical Sciences, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College, and then an MCh in Urology from PGI Chandigarh, three of India’s top medical institutions.

His passion for innovation led him to pursue advanced fellowship training in Men’s Health and Andrology in South Korea, Turkey, and the USA. Upon returning, he played a pioneering role in establishing Andrology as a recognized subspecialty in India, replacing outdated practices with scientific, patient-centric care.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Vijayant has become India’s most-followed urologist on social media, using his platform to raise awareness and dispel myths about male health. “I believe awareness is the first step toward healing, which is why I use both social media outreach and real-world patient support groups to educate and empower. When patients hear from others who have walked the same path, their fear fades and their confidence in treatment grows”, he adds.

While urology as a field spans seven major branches, including kidney transplantation, stone disease, urooncology, pediatric urology, and robotic surgery, Dr Vijayant’s expertise lies specifically in male infertility and sexual dysfunction.

In a country where male reproductive issues account for nearly half of all infertility cases, his work is both timely and transformative. He addresses male infertility through cutting-edge interventions such as microsurgical varicocelectomy, hormone therapies, and advanced sperm retrieval techniques such as Micro-TESE.

These methods help restore fertility in men who were once considered untreatable, giving couples the chance to conceive naturally and preserve genetic parenthood.
Another major focus of Dr Vijayant’s practice is the treatment of erectile dysfunction and other penile disorders, which are rising among younger men due to stress, sedentary lifestyles, poor diet, and declining testosterone levels. His approach combines evidence-based medical treatments with innovative regenerative therapies such as PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and shockwave therapy.

For patients who don’t respond to conventional options, he offers penile implants, a customized, silicone-based devices that restore full sexual function. Notably, Dr Vijayant was one of the first surgeons to introduce penile implants in India, helping normalize a procedure long available in the West.

Through his specialization, he is not only filling a critical gap in men’s healthcare but also shifting public perception by offering scientifically backed, effective solutions in a field often clouded by misinformation.

Harnessing Global Technology

Dr Vijayant is a strong advocate for the responsible integration of cutting-edge medical technology to enhance both patient outcomes and clinical precision. With firsthand experience in the U.S. and Europe, he places great value on stringent international regulatory standards such as FDA and CE approvals, which ensure that only thoroughly tested innovations reach Indian healthcare systems.

Dr Vijayant leverages the adoption of advanced technologies, like robotic surgery for prostate cancer, which have revolutionized treatment by reducing complications, shortening recovery time, and preserving key functions post-surgery.

I believe that technological progress, when carefully regulated, can elevate the quality of care while minimizing harm. Well-vetted medical advancements not only benefit doctors but also empower patients with access to world-class treatment locally”, he asserts.

A Case That Redefined Outcomes

For Dr Vijayant, challenging cases are not obstacles but opportunities to grow, collaborate, and innovate. In andrologya rapidly evolving specialty, one of the most demanding areas is gender-affirming surgery. These surgeries require close coordination between urologists and plastic surgeons to ensure both functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Recalling a tough case, Dr Vijayant shares the story of a patient from Thailand who had undergone a poorly executed transgender surgery, resulting in severe tissue loss and psychological distress. After being turned away from multiple centers, the patient approached Dr Vijayant. Through a series of staged corrective surgeries over two months, the team not only restored function and appearance but also gave the patient a renewed sense of identity and confidence.

The case was later published and widely discussed in the academic community for its technical and ethical insights. Today, Dr Gupta’s center has become a sought-after referral destination for patients from Southeast Asia.

Roadmap for Growth & Accessibility

Dr Vijayant’s practice has evolved from a standalone clinic into a full-fledged 20-bedded hospital, now on the cusp of a major expansion. Within the next eight months, the facility will grow into a 100-bed multidisciplinary center equipped with additional operating rooms and integrated services such as psychiatry, gynecology, plastic surgery, psychology, and IVF, all under one roof.

This growth is driven by the increasing demand for specialized andrological care in India. “Strategically, our center is also extending its reach beyond Delhi, with consultation services already initiated in Mumbai and Pune, and upcoming plans for Bengaluru. Additionally, a second branch is slated to open in Gurugram, positioning the practice as a nationwide leader in andrology”, concludes Dr Vijayant.
