Someone once wisely quoted ~ “Great products are engineered when product managers truly understand the desired outcomes by actively listening to customers”. In fact, the very essence of a product is to solve the existing problems of people, thereby oiling the wheels of their lives. Orchestrating the entire process of product development right from design to manufacturing and maintenance are the innovators poised at the vanguard of their industry of expertise. Shiva Texyarn Limited is one such innovator constantly creating high-value products that are not easily available in the textile industry. Having earned an unmatched reputation for its quality and reliability both in domestic and international markets for many decades, this technical textile company proactively forayed into the niche segment of baby care way back in 2005.

The reason behind this foray is indeed the beautiful story of Quick Dry, India’s leading and most trusted brand with a wide range of baby care products in its portfolio. Back in 2005, rubber bed sheets were predominantly used by people to protect the mattresses of their babies from bed wetting, other moisture and dust. Despite being less expensive, these rubber sheets were non-absorbent, non-breathable, un-hygienic and uncomfortable for the baby to sleep on, causing heat, rashes and perspiration. On the dark side, there was no alternative for these rubber sheets in the Indian market apart from disposable, non-environment friendly and expensive diapers that created rashes, allergies and infections. Even Dr. S K Sundararaman (Managing Director, Shiva Texyarn Ltd.) and his family faced the same sort of difficulties while using rubber bed sheets for kids at home. This indeed triggered him to bridge the industry gap with Quick Dry, a revolutionary and unique incontinence product.

Quick Dry is a changing mat for babies that is breathable, reusable, washable and light-weight with a thin polyurethane membrane that ensures zero seepage and faster drying, thus eliminating the need for disposable diapers. In contrast to the conventional rubber sheets, Quick Dry is ‘The Original Dry Sheet’ that offers unparalleled comfort, convenience and sound sleep to the baby with zero crinkly noises even after urination. It also stands-out with its inherent hygienic and antibacterial qualities, protecting the baby against dust mites, bacteria, allergens and rashes. Further, it is capable of holding eight times its weight of water and lasts up to 70 washes! No wonder, this dry sheet has captivated the hearts of many customers in India, almost 60 percent of the Indian market. Dr. Sundararaman adds, “We are proud to be the single largest and most important player in the market mainly because of being the inventors of unique, child-safe and skin-friendly incontinence products”.

Why Quick Dry?
This revolutionary brand has been garnering almost 1.5 decades of unrivalled trust from its swarm of satisfied customers who are its biggest word of mouth. Besides being the only brand in India with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certification which assures no harmful substances, Quick Dry vests great importance in the safety of babies, way before convenience and comfort. Unlike any other incontinence product, its dry sheets have qualified in saliva test that ensures no bleeding of colours under the influence of saliva and many other in-depth tests, which further project it as the go-to incontinence product for babies and toilet-training toddlers. In addition, pregnant & new moms, adults and bed-ridden patients suffering from urinary incontinence can undoubtedly use this product rather than those adult diapers and incontinence briefs that spread severe diaper rashes. This is why today, almost 1.5 lakh products are being delivered by Quick Dry to customers every month with minimal complaints!

Stringent R&D
Quick Dry has been constantly leveraging the
best of advanced technologies and adhering to international quality & safety standards at its in-house R&D facility. Especially during inception, its R&D team conducted extensive trials to check the quick drying ability and breathability of the polyurethane membrane. Only post testing the sheets at their own homes did this team move forward to release it in the market. This clearly proves the kind of credibility that Quick Dry imparts! Despite realizing that not even western countries had a product like this back then, the team chose to mainly satiate Indian customers and rewrite their mindsets from using rubber sheets to dry sheets. Since then, they never looked back!

Today, Quick Dry provides a spectrum of products like Hooded Towels, Baby Bath Towels, Bibs, Baby Wrappers, Baby Carriers, Reusable Diapers, Cocoon Baby Wraps, Quick Fit Mattresses, Quick Fit Pillow Protectors, Q-Club, and many more to customers PAN India and abroad. A lot of time and money is being seamlessly invested by the brand in R&D of these products. The manufacturing process begins with sourcing the best-in-class fabrics from best manufacturers of Taiwan. Stringently conforming to European REACH standards, it checks the membranes for presence of harmful chemicals (via proprietary facilities) and metal scraps (via needle detectors). Moreover, the brand pledges to constantly infuse essential alterations into the fabric to enhance anti-bacterial protection and aesthetic pleasure.

We are proud to be the single largest and most important player in the market mainly because of being the inventors of unique, child-safe and skin-friendly incontinence products

Speaking of its strength in technologies, Quick Dry was the first company to have brought-in polyurethane technology, the most advanced lamination technology in textiles industry, across India. It also stands-out as one of the largest laminators in India with a capacity to laminate almost one million metres per month.

Growing Under the Shadow of Thought Leaders
Dr. Sundararaman articulates, “We are the thought leaders in the textile industry, especially in the incontinence product segment”. Recently, Quick Dry has unveiled a new product called Paw Paw, a reusable, highly ergonomic, high-absorbent and quick-drying diaper for infants. The absorbent pad that goes into this diaper is manufactured through Rapisoak technology that provides instant drying due to the pull-through effect of liquid in the top fabric. Further, Quick Dry outclasses as one of the few companies in India that deploys woven microfiber fabrics in Paw Paw, which is an important component that increases a pad’s performance.

Distribution is Quick Dry’s biggest forte! Holding a strong distribution network comprising of 240 distributors and 12,000 retailers PAN India, Quick Dry presents its breadth of products to customers through General, Modern and Online Trade. It also excels in Overseas Trade through distributors in Middle East and Thailand, and aims to expand across Indonesia and other Asian countries in the near future. Yet, the biggest strength of the brand is its dedicated field executives (100) in India who personally engage with retailers and customers to perpetuate the brand value under the guidance of Senior Managers. Some of the experts in its top management include Dr. Sundararaman along with Ramachandra Raju (Head – Manufacturing), Brigadier Naveen Sodhi (Senior Vice President) and Rajesh Singh (GM – Modern Trade).

"Besides being the only brand in India with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certification which assures no harmful substances, Quick Dry vests great importance in the safety of babies, way before convenience and comfort”

Since its establishment, Quick Dry has grown by about 22 percent YoY and expects to increase it to 25 percent in the upcoming FY. Today, the company proudly stands at the forefront of the industry with its reusable diapers and dry sheets, completely negating the usage of disposable diapers and rubber sheets, thus promoting a sustainable future. While vesting its focus on Quick Dry (flagship product) in the upcoming years, the company envisions performing incremental additions through new technologies, increasing global & online distribution, and enhancing the growth of its ancillary products.
