Dr Neeraj Goyal

Laser, Laparoscopic, and Robotic Surgeon

In a world where machines operate quietly and lights blink inside operating rooms, modern surgery has become a blend of precision, science, and trust. India, in particular, has emerged as a hub of surgical Human First, Surgeon Thereafter innovation where traditional knowledge meets cutting-edge technology. From laparoscopic marvels to robotic precision and laser finesse, the industry is moving away from long hospital stays and visible scars to minimally invasive healing and faster recoveries. Driving this wave of surgical innovation is a name that blends expertise with vision Dr Neeraj Goyal, redefining what it means to operate with clarity and impact.

His story began at LLRM Medical College, Meerut, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal in 2001. With fellowships in laparoscopy (FIAGES) and surgery (FAIS), he rapidly rose as one of India’s most trusted surgical minds. “If I can do something meaningful with my hands, it’s the most fulfilling form of art”, says Dr Neeraj Goyal. And indeed, he has turned surgery into a science and an art.

From being the first surgeon to deploy highest number of fully absorbable P4HB mesh for hernia in India to revolutionizing laser proctology, he blends innovation with empathy. His outcomes speak for themselves. His vision goes further. He is the Founder & Director of NG 360 Academy, Director at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi, Visiting Faculty at MAHE, and Course Director at MIME and Oreol Academy.

A two times TEDx speaker and invited expert speaker at WHO, he doesn’t just heal he teaches, trains, and transforms. Known for his ‘Humane Touch’, Dr Neeraj Goyal balances high-volume precision with deep patient care. His voice is shaping not just surgeries, but the future of surgical trainings globally.

Pioneering New Surgical Frontiers

The spark to become a surgeon came early in class 9, to be precise. “At that age, I didn’t know where the thought came from, but I was certain, fortunately, my parents supported me, and today, I live my passion every single day”, Dr Neeraj Goyal reflects. He doesn’t see surgery as a job. For him, it’s both an art and a responsibility a craft he controls with his hands and his heart. His expertise spans laser, laparoscopic, robotics, in general surgery, with a focus on soft tissue hernias, gallbladder stones, appendicitis, intestinal surgeries, and advanced proctology.

He is among the first in India to deploy the highest Number of fully absorbable P4HB mesh for complex hernia repair, a game-
changer for infection-prone cases. One of his most memorable cases involved a diabetic, immunocompromised patient with severe mesh infection. In a pioneering move, he used the P4HB mesh that dissolves within 1-1.5 years and carries antibacterial properties. “I believe innovation should answer a real need not just exist for the sake of novelty”, says Dr Neeraj Goyal. The results are over 115 successful implants, India’s first published case series in 2023, and a new gold standard for such repairs.

Human First, Surgeon Thereafter

In a field driven by protocols, Dr Neeraj Goyal insists on staying rooted to empathy. His mantra is simple yet profound, ‘At the core of every thing, we are human beings first and professionals later. It’s not enough to operate well. People need to feel heard, seen, and safe’. His patients often describe him as a ‘surgeon with a family’s touch’. That emotional anchor, he believes, is what sustains true healing. Despite his demanding surgical schedule he is approachable, reflective, and deeply grounded. Even today, patients and their families reach out long after the surgery is over not just for follow-ups, but to share life’s joys, struggles, and gratitude.

Dr Neeraj Goyal doesn’t just perform surgeries, he pioneers possibilities and rewrites protocols with every patient he meets

No success story is built alone. Dr Neeraj Goyal attributes much of his achievements to his dedicated team associate surgeons, coordinators, social media handlers, academic partners, and hospital staff. His core unit handles everything from pre-op planning to live training videos, managing presentations, updating educational websites, and assisting in international workshops. He regularly conducts live surgeries, workshops, and webinars, training over 3,035 surgeons globally. “It’s my team that allows me to think beyond the operating theatre”, Dr Neeraj Goyal adds gratefully.

From diode lasers to surgical robots, he embraces every tool that enhances patient outcomes. Whether it’s treating fistulas, hemorrhoids, or pilonidal sinus through laser proctology, or minimizing trauma with robotic and keyhole surgeries, he sees technology as an extension of care, not a replacement for it. But adopting technology is not without resistance. “Convincing patients from smaller towns, or even surgeons, that lasers are safe and effective has been a challenge, if we are not updated, we are outdated”, Dr Neeraj Goyal says. But with more than 90 percent success rates, rising awareness, and strong clinical outcomes, his approach is turning skeptics into believers.

Beyond the OT, Dr Neeraj Goyal is a strong voice for preventive healthcare. His TEDx talks and WHO appearances have focused on lifestyle diseases and early interventions. “We doctors do surgeries every day, but if we can teach people how not to need them, that is even more powerful”, he adds. He also advocates openly against tobacco calling it ‘the biggest scam of our time’. For him, public health awareness is not a campaign. It’s a duty.

Future Vision

Looking at the future, he is committed to refining laser surgical methods, making them more standardized, accessible, and globally taught. He’s currently working with international societies, expanding his training programs, and planning new leadership roles that will let him impact patient care on a wider scale. “The journey need not be long it should be big”, Dr Neeraj Goyal says. And true to that belief, he continues to script a journey that’s not just about the number of surgeries done but about the lives transformed, ideas seeded, and future made possible.
