Dr Abhijeet Ranjan
Managing Director & Hepatology Specialist
Hailing from a small village near Sindri, Jharkhand, his upbringing is quite inspiring as he has had his own struggles belonging to a humble background. However, it was his endeavor and his mother Manju Pramanik’s relentless striving to see him as a healthcare leader serving the community that made him a recognized name in the healthcare space today. Dr Abhijeet Ranjan is an MBBS from Pt. J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur (2006–2012), an MD in Internal Medicine from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur (2013–2016), and a DM in Hepatology from ILBS, New Delhi (2018-2021). With such acknowledgeable educational achievements, he is actively dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and contributing to innovations in healthcare management.
The F&B industry has evolved significantly through various advanced business models targeting people’s gut based on taste, flavor, smell, and overall experience. Unfortunately, this has led to unhealthy body states and poor gut health, which are linked to many diseases. Dr Abhijeet Ranjan says, “Approximately 95 percent of diseases originate from the gut, so compromised gut health can affect overall well-being. Additionally, poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyles negatively impact gut health and liver function, which is crucial for metabolism, immunity, and detoxification. This can result in bodily disturbances such as depression, anxiety, and more. Also, medical schools always teach us how to treat, but not to prevent. Hence, recognizing the importance of gut health motivated me to specialize in Hepatology and Gastroenterology, focusing on prevention rather than just treatment”.
Well, Dr Abhijeet ventured on his career quite efficiently after his MBBS and did his practice
until 2016, joining many nearby hospitals. His journey delineates his experiences as Ex Senior Resident at KPS Institute, GSVM Medical College (2016-2017), Senior Consultant at Saraswati Medical College, Unnao (September 2016 – February 2017), Senior Consultant at Asarfi Hospital, Dhanbad (March 2017 – January 2018), Faculty at ILBS, New Delhi (2021-2022), and currently working as Senior Consultant at SGT Hospital, Gurugram. Also, currently, he is promisingly leading the space through his brainchild ARS Gastro and Liver Centre acting as the Managing Director and a distinguished Hepatology specialist.
Dr Abhijeet Ranjan is proficient in a wide range of procedures, including Diagnostic & Therapeutic UGIE, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Liver biopsy, Fibroscan and Fecal Microbiota Transplantation, among others. Understanding the diverse nutritional needs of individuals is essential in health and wellness discussions. Many prioritize outcomes over mindful eating, often assessing food choices based solely on flavor rather than health benefits and digestive compatibility. Hence, talking about the challenges in his consultations, Dr Abhijeet Ranjan says, “I emphasize the need for individuals to connect cognitive (mind) awareness with physiological (gut) responses. Just as one avoids uncomfortable social interactions, similar care should be taken with food selections. Each person’s digestive system has unique preferences and limitations, and recognizing these boundaries is key to making healthier choices”.
Dr Abhijeet’s team is an extension of his thought process, vision, mission, and goals. Each member is specifically trained for their own area of expertise as well as their respective roles and responsibilities. While there are many employees, five key leaders stand out, namely Dr Sarita (his wife), Abhimanyu, Dharmendra, Tribhuvan, and Pooja as per him. Each of them excel in their roles, and everyone on the team has their own tasks, such as technicians who understand how to prepare a patient for procedures like endoscopies and colonoscopies. The team follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) that help make patients feel comfortable. They also take the billing process and patient feedback very seriously, be it regarding infrastructure, stars, doctors, treatments, medicines, or others.
Dr Abhijeet’s goal is to provide affordable healthcare without compromising on quality, thereby he necessarily invests in state-of-the-art machines, advanced technologies, and comprehensive training too for their team members. He says, “We believe in the idea of collective growth, ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’”. He envisions that both his internal customers (employees) and external customers (patients) should be happy and aligned with ethical practices and affordable rates. In terms of pharmacy, he does not support polypharmacy unless absolutely necessary. His patients typically require medications for no more than 15 days to one month.
Bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in his area of specialization, he has earned numerous accolades, underscoring his commitment to setting a high standard in gastrointestinal and liver care. Looking ahead, Dr Abhijeet Ranjan’s plans also seem great. He plans to expand small clinics in Tier-I and possibly Tier-II cities with a vision to resolve health issues within a month, without relying on medications. His clinics offer procedures at rates over half of what larger hospitals charge, yet he maintains an eighty percent profit margin. His goal is to establish over 10 clinics in the next two years and create a specialized gastroenterology hospital, as there is a significant lack of gastroenterology & allied care in Gurugram. He also aspires to recruit skilled professionals and build a strong brand for his company and team. Additionally, he is considering listing ARS Gastro and Liver Centre on the SME listing and potentially the Main Board National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange, as part of his vision for advancing healthcare in the country.
