The US-based Vattikuti Foundation unveiled its latest initiative, the 'Vattikuti Explorers' program, aimed at identifying and nurturing 20 innovative medical students in India towards the field of robotic surgery. Open to third and fourth-year medical students, this unique endeavor offers a hands-on opportunity for participants to engage in specialized research under the mentorship of accomplished robotic surgeons.

Mahendra Bhandari, the CEO of Vattikuti Foundation, emphasized that the program surpasses conventional medical education by providing students with practical training, exposure to advanced surgical technologies, and connections with leading innovators across medical disciplines.

The selected 'Explorers' will benefit from guidance by world-renowned medical experts, who will continue to support them through their early careers. Eight participants among the 20 will embark on a three-day immersion program at the Orsi Academy in Melle, Belgium, from August 19-21. Additionally, they will attend the 'Humans at the Cutting Edge of Robotic Surgery' symposium in Jaipur on February 14-16, 2025, featuring presentations by global robotic surgery experts.

Upon completing the program, the 'Explorers' will become eligible for paid one-year fellowships in various fields such as gynaecology, urology, and surgical oncology in India, providing them with invaluable practical experience.

Simultaneously, the Foundation's 'KS International Innovation Awards' is open for entries until July 15. This competition encompasses 'Robotic Procedure Innovation' across surgical disciplines and technological innovations in AI, imaging, robotic systems, telesurgery, VR, and more.

The 'Vattikuti Explorers' program and the 'KS International Innovation Awards' signify the Foundation's commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in the field of robotic surgery, empowering the next generation of medical professionals to make significant contributions to healthcare advancement in India and beyond.
