Dutch health technology company Royal Philips has announced the commencement of work on a new research and development (R&D) facility as part of the expansion of its Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune, Maharashtra. The upcoming facility, located in a 10-acre plot in MIDC, Chinchwad, will encompass approximately 300,000 square feet of office space in its first phase, accommodating around 1900 employees.

Scheduled to be operational within two years, the new center will house R&D teams from Philips' Image Guided Therapy, Precision Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Sleep & Respiratory businesses. By consolidating all teams in one center, Philips aims to enhance scale, speed, and efficiency, fostering resource sharing and best practices across business divisions.

Established in 2011, the HIC in Pune focuses on multi-modality healthcare R&D, smart manufacturing, and complete product development, incorporating customer feedback into commercialization processes and ensuring operational excellence.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, the new center will incorporate Green Power initiatives, provide electric vehicle (EV) charging provisions, and promote bicycle commuting. This expansion not only marks a significant milestone in Philips' global footprint but also reinforces its dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Together with the Innovation Campus in Bengaluru, the Global Business Services in Chennai, and the commercial team headquartered in Gurgaon, the HIC in Pune forms an integral part of Philips' operations in India, collectively employing over 9000 professionals.

Last November, Philips India inaugurated its new innovation campus in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, accommodating over 5,000 professionals in a 650,000 square feet facility. The campus is dedicated to developing innovative health technologies aimed at enhancing patient experiences, improving health outcomes, optimizing staff experiences, and reducing the cost of care.

Bert van Meurs, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Leader of Image Guided Therapy, Chief Business Leader of Precision Diagnosis (ad interim), and responsible for Diagnosis & Treatment, highlighted the significance of the Healthcare Innovation Centre in Pune, emphasizing its capabilities to address both Indian and global market needs.

Peeyush Kaushik, Vice President and Head of HIC, Pune, expressed optimism about the new center's potential to foster innovation and collaboration with healthcare providers, ultimately aiming to achieve better health outcomes.

With the launch of this new facility, Philips reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in healthcare, with a focus on delivering impactful solutions to address evolving market demands and improve patient care worldwide.
