DPIIT and Pfizer Join Hands to Boost Healthcare Innovation and Support MedTech Startups

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pfizer Limited to strengthen India’s healthcare innovation ecosystem. The partnership will support 14 MedTech startups with funding, mentorship, and access to advanced resources. The collaboration aims to fast track healthcare innovations from lab to market.

Under this partnership, the Pfizer INDovation program will offer grants of up to Rs 60 lakhs to DPIIT recognized startups. These startups will also participate in an 18 month incubation program run by Social Alpha. The program includes specialized support in clinical validation, regulatory approvals, and go to market strategies.

Startups will receive expert mentorship, infrastructure support, and access to Pfizer’s Research and Development facilities in Chennai. This will provide valuable industry insights and global networking opportunities to help innovators enhance their solutions. The initiative focuses on startups working in screening, diagnostics, health monitoring, and treatment, especially in areas like non-communicable diseases, oncology, brain health, maternal and child health, and immunization.

DPIIT Joint Secretary, Sanjiv emphasized the importance of startups in driving novel drug discovery in India. Pfizer India’s Senior Director, Sharad Goswami highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting startups that create patient focused healthcare solutions for the Indian market.

This MoU reinforces DPIIT’s goal of building strong public private partnerships to promote inclusive growth and position India as a leading global hub for healthcare innovation. The collaboration is expected to accelerate the development of impactful healthcare technologies, benefiting patients and the industry alike.
