Vaccines have proved themselves to be life savers globally, but India still struggles with the challenges of awareness and accessibility. Despite significant improvements in vaccine safety and effectiveness, numerous vaccine-preventable diseases like Typhoid, Influenza, Cervical Cancer, Pneumonia, and Shingles still affect millions because of low immunization coverage rates. Public, private, and community stakeholders need to act urgently.

Dr. Vivekanand M Kustagi, a Consultant Pediatrician and Neonatologist with Sanjivini Children's Clinic in Bengaluru, commented on the matter, saying, "While vaccines are medically effective, many refuse to get vaccinated. People are resistant for several reasons: lack of exposure to correct or adequate information, cultural beliefs that inform decisions, and poor health education. Misinformation and myths circulating online are a further scarecrow for people to stay away from vaccination.". Hence, clinical opinion leaders and health professionals play a crucial role in advocating and disseminating reliable information regarding vaccines and their advantages. This method can greatly increase the uptake of vaccines and their utilization in India.

India has a high vaccine-preventable disease burden. In 2021, around 10 million cases of Typhoid were estimated, and more than 511 million women are susceptible to Cervical Cancer, resulting in almost 80,000 fatalities annually. Invasive Pneumococcal Disease is responsible for causing as many as 30% of deaths among children aged below five years, out of which India contributes 36% of pneumonia cases in the SouthEast Asia region. The Indian Government is focusing on decreasing pneumonia mortality rates among children to less than three per 1,000 live births by the year 2025.

Novo Medi Sciences' Managing Director, Foram Bhagat, insisted, "Keeping in view its vision to bring vaccines within every individual's reach and affordability, Novo Medi Sciences (Novo Group) is committed towards the research of next-generation vaccines, including world's sole thermostable Varicella vaccine, first-in-India Hand Foot and Mouth disease vaccine, and the globe's sole one-dose Shingles vaccine.".
