In its 2025-26 Budget, the Delhi government has allocated Rs 6,874 crore for the health sector, focusing on strengthening healthcare infrastructure through the expansion of wellness centers and enhancement of critical care services. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the Budget, emphasizing the government's commitment to making healthcare more accessible and modernizing the system with improved primary care and streamlined medical records.

The total Budget for the year stands at Rs 1 lakh crore, representing a 31.5% increase from the previous year. Gupta highlighted a specific allocation of Rs 320 crore for the establishment of 400 health and wellness centers, along with the introduction of " Ayushman Digital Mission," to improve access to primary healthcare services. Additionally, Rs 10 crore has been set aside for the Ayushman Digital Mission , which aims to modernize healthcare records and create an integrated data system for better patient management.

Criticizing the previous AAP-led administration, Gupta stated that it failed to deliver essential healthcare facilities, claiming that many of the 24 projects initiated were ineffective. She expressed a clear goal of making Delhi’s health system stronger and more accessible to all residents. Furthermore, Gupta announced plans to expedite the construction of 10 to 13 new hospitals, with Rs 1,000 crore specifically allocated for this initiative.

Gupta reiterated the government’s determination to build a robust and modern healthcare system that efficiently serves everyone in Delhi. This Budget marks a significant milestone as it is the first presented by a BJP-led government in Delhi in over 26 years, following their recent victory over the Aam Aadmi Party in the Assembly elections. The government aims to ensure quality healthcare for all citizens, reflecting its commitment to improving public health services in the capital.
