In a detailed post on X, Nadda underscored the broad progress India has made in the past decade, stating, “There has been historic development in all areas education, health, transport, infrastructure, and defense”. Central to this transformation, he said, is the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which has redefined access to quality healthcare for millions across the country.
As of May 30, over 41.02 crore Ayushman Cards have been issued across 33 states and union territories, empowering citizens with cashless access to health services. The AB-PMJAY has facilitated more than 8.59 crore hospital admissions, amounting to Rs 1.19 lakh crore in treatment costs. The scheme, touted as one of the world’s largest publicly funded health insurance initiatives, ensures that families receive critical secondary and tertiary healthcare without falling into financial hardship.
Additionally, the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras which provide affordable generic medicines has seen a massive leap from just 80 in 2014 to 16,469 outlets by May 2025, further expanding access to essential medicines at low cost.
