Dr Bipin completed MBBS from BJ Medical College, Pune and DVD (dermatology specialty) from Pune University. He is an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Today, with 35 years of clinical experience, he is renowned as one of the most promising Dermatologist, Laser Specialist, and Cosmetic Dermatologist. He avers, “I am a St. Vincent’s High School’s product and the school teaches so many things to students with an impression to contribute something more to the society, and I really felt to abide by it. I aspired to pursue Internal Medicine as specialty, however I was destined to pursue Dermatology”.
Dr Bipin Deshpande has contributed significantly to the field of dermatology through his innovative approaches. In 1997, he established Ruby Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. This institution has played a crucial role in shaping his prominent position within the healthcare sector. The primary objective of Dr Bipin in founding Ruby Health Care was to cultivate and spread the unique treatment and management techniques in Dermatology, Cosmetic Dermatology, Laser Treatments, Skin Surgery, Preventive Dermatology and Medicine. He has achieved noteworthy results in managing complex skin conditions. These include treating non-healing wounds of diverse origins such as diabetes, leprosy, burns, skin grafting failures, bedsores, varicose ulcers with remarkable success. Acne, its associated scarring, facial hyperpigmentation and hair loss, particularly in female patients have also been his hallmarks.
Furthermore, Dr Bipin has developed a scientific weight loss program for better management of many skin diseases where the metabolic problems adversely affect the skin like psoriasis, acne, hirsutism. In dermatology, successfully treating diabetic wounds, acne, hair loss has gained significant attention today, but every specialist has a different approach. Non-healing wounds in diabetic patients may cause serious complications due to impaired blood supply and loss of sensations. Diabetic wounds may need hospitalization for amputations. Dr Bipin says, “Patients come to us with hope, often after spending significantly on treatments elsewhere for non-healing wounds. My approach is altogether different ‘a Photobiomodulation Therapy’, started in 1996, which has helped heal these difficult wounds with an impressive success rate”.

Dr Bipin focuses on individual patient’s needs than following medical protocols. By customizing treatments, he aims to make them both effective and affordable. Across his practice, he has treated over 1,000 wounds of diabetes, burns, bed sores and many more. His recent study on wound healing was accepted by the European Academy of Dermatology Congress in September 2024 at Amsterdam, claiming a success rate of 85 percent. For acne and other skin conditions, his approach is unique and moving away from ‘one-size-fits-all approach’ commonly followed.
As far as the skin surgery is concerned, he is a pioneer for introducing Radiofrequency Surgery in India and has written a book ‘Dermatologic Surgery with Radiofrequency : Art of Successful Practice’, which was published by CRC Press (Taylor & Francis), U.S. in May 2018. He is also a trailblazer for introducing Soft Laser treatment (Photobiomodulation) for successfully treating non-healing wounds.
In dermatology practice, hair loss issue is common yet challenging, particularly in women. Dr Bipin focuses on understanding the patient’s history to identify causes like nutritional deficiencies, hormonal changes, or stress. Unlike many practitioners, he avoids prescribing minoxidil except for women over 40 when necessary. His successful approach includes thorough evaluation, effective counseling, and collaboration with nutritionist to address the deficiencies. This holistic approach significantly benefits his patients.

He was felicitated amongst the 300 selected doctors all over India on Doctor’s Day by The Economic Times in 2023.
Dr Bipin always emphasizes the connection between skin, hair problems and overall health through his treatments. “In my 35 years of experience, I’ve seen patients with cosmetic concerns often reveal underlying health issues. Skin is a mirror of health. I would emphasize that Dermatology has evolved significantly, particularly in cosmetic procedures. However, it’s crucial to prioritize patient needs and expectations, using technology to enhance their well-being rather than just for commercial gains”, he concludes.
