Compassionate Care for Delicate Health Concerns

While there is a continued focus on healthcare growth & expansion in India today through improvisations and reformations of policies by the government, urological cases are still increasing led by the aging population, a growing prevalence of chronic conditions, and improved early detection and awareness of diseases like prostate cancer.
However, with many initiatives and key events happening around urology care, and consistent endeavor to incorporate new techniques in robotic and minimally invasive surgery to improve patient outcomes, there is a noteworthy change happening according to the European Association of Urology's International Urology Research Society Congress. Today, an increased emphasis is being laid on patient-centered approaches, including serving the diverse healthcare needs of the international population within the country. The field is seeing rapid advancements in various sub-specialties, such as urinary stone disease, urologic cancers, lower urinary tract dysfunction, and reconstructive surgery.
While efforts are underway to facilitate inclusion and create opportunities for underrepresented groups within the field of urology, there are many leaders and healthcare professionals making it big for the Urology care’s success in the country. Some marked events were ‘Young Urologists' Perspectives Webinar’ hosted South Zone Urological Society of India on June 4, 2025, providing a platform for early-career urologists to share insights and clinical updates. In August 2025, the Urological Society of India issued a call for nominations for the Prof. S. N. Panda Oration and the Prof. Mahendra Bhandari USI Medal.
