Mental health professionals, especially psychiatrists, are essential to solving the national and international mental health crises. Therefore, competent psychiatrists are necessary for precise diagnosis, efficient treatment, and all-encompassing care in India, where mental health facilities are scarce. Managing complicated cases, offering individualized interventions, and enhancing the general state of mental health outcomes all depend on their experience.

Dr Gorav Gupta, a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist and the Director of Tulasi Healthcare in Delhi NCR has an illustrious career marked by numerous accolades. Improving Cultural Competency Enables To Care For A Varied Patient Group More Efficiently & Inclusively

Enhancing Mental Health Awareness & Accessibility

Dr Gorav participates in several philanthropic endeavors, such as free outpatient clinics and camps for the poor. Through improved access to vital services, mental health problems can be identified and treated early through these programs. Patients are encouraged to become self sufficient using holistic approaches. The provision of training and chances for capacity-building also contributes to the reduction of stigma in the community. Dr Gorav’s humanitarian activities help create a more welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for everyone by making mental health treatments and knowledge more accessible.

As a panel member studying the Mental Health Act 2017 and a member of NITI Aayog’s National Task Force on Brain Health, Dr Gorav’s goal is to establish comprehensive mental health awareness facilities. He aims to bridge the socioeconomic gaps in the mental health system that exist today to avert crises. His objectives include creating effective mechanisms for early identification and intervention, improving community support networks, and lessening the stigma attached to mental health problems.

Navigating Challenges in Dual Diagnosis Treatment

When treating patients with psychiatric illnesses in addition to substance addiction issues, Dr Gorav encounters many difficulties. Caregiving becomes more difficult when a patient has dual diagnoses since they frequently present with complex symptoms and want immediate fixes. Navigating complex diagnoses, incorporating suitable treatments, controlling drug interactions, and guaranteeing patient adherence to treatment programs are some of the major obstacles. Treatment is made more difficult by problems such as withdrawal, relapse, social rejection, stigma, and the possibility of suicide and self-harm.

Dr Gorav uses a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, addiction specialists and peer support group to address these issues and provide each patient with thorough and efficient care. “It takes thought and professional advice to ensure that people with dual illnesses receive optimal treatment and rehabilitation outcomes. Developing Integrated Treatment Plans and using Evidence-Based Therapies for every disease are two of our tactics. To maintain patient motivation and create a helpful atmosphere, we offer Support Services and include patients’ families. We also emphasize psychoeducation and integrate holistic and wellness approaches to enhance general well-being”, adds Dr Gorav.
